RESPITE CARE

Altrua Care respite services offer support for service users and their caregivers, whether it’s needed in an emergency, on a regular basis, or as a one-time arrangement. In the UK, around 6.5 million people are caring for loved ones, with 1.4 million providing over 50 hours of care each week.

ALTRUA CARE IS HERE TO HELP

You don’t have to manage caregiving alone. Our Care Professionals can support your loved one while you take a well-earned break for appointments, holidays, or special events. Prioritising your well-being is essential, and our respite care ensures your loved one is safe and cared for at home. Regular caregiving can be exhausting, so taking time to recharge helps you maintain your health and continue to provide care.

BENEFITS OF RESPITE CARE:

Your loved one remains comfortably at home while you take a break.

Customized to meet your loved one’s specific needs.

Allows you to take a much-needed rest from caregiving.

It is given by highly trained and experienced Care Professionals.

HOW DO I ARRANGE RESPITE CARE?

In some areas, respite care may be provided following your carer’s assessment, while in others, it may be based on a needs assessment for the person you care for. If either assessment identifies a need for respite care, your local council should help provide it. Financial support may also be available from the council to help cover respite care costs, although it is means-tested, meaning you or your loved one may be required to contribute to the cost.

We can arrange specialist-approved accommodation for off-site respite care. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

WILL A BREAK FROM CARING AFFECT MY BENEFITS?

If you take time off from caring, specific rules will determine whether you continue to receive Carer's Allowance. Generally, you can receive Carer's Allowance for up to four weeks in any six-month period during a break from caring.

However, as the rules can be complex, it's a good idea to seek advice from the Carer's Allowance Unit.If you receive other benefits with additional amounts for caring, these may also be impacted by a break from caring.
